Mar 13-Jun 14: Kangxi Emperor Exhibition - Treasures from the Forbidden City
Hailed as one of China’s greatest emperors, the Kangxi Emperor, XuanYe, succeeded his father, Emperor Shunzhi, at the tender age of eight. During his reign (1662 to 1722), the Manchus consolidated rule over China and the Chinese empire expanded.
The Kangxi Emperor’s many achievements can be attributed to his passion and competence in his various roles. He was an astute ruler, skilled warrior, keen scholar and patron of the arts. His intellect, political acumen, diverse talents and civic virtues won him the admiration and support of his subjects.
This exhibition showcases treasures from The Palace Museum, Beijing and offers visitors a rare glimpse into the Forbidden City - right here in Singapore.
13 Mar 2009 - 14 Jun 2009
@ Special Exhibitions Gallery, ACM Empress Place
The whole exhibition was awesome! We spent hours in there, until the museum closed at 7pm. Hee hee.
Caught a Monsters & Aliens
preview last week~ The movie is so cute!
When California girl Susan Murphy is unwittingly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk on her wedding day, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall. Alerted to the threat of this new monster, the military jumps into action and Susan is captured and secreted away to a covert government compound. There, she is renamed Ginormica and placed in confinement with a ragtag group of other monsters: the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D.; the macho half-ape, half-fish The Missing Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their confinement is cut short, however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and begins storming the country. In a moment of desperation, The President is persuaded by General W.R. Monger to enlist the motley crew of Monsters to combat the Alien Robot and save the world from imminent destruction. [Source]
The 3D was pretty good. The burger in the first scene looked very realistic!
My favourite monster character is Insectosaurus! She is super duper cute! Can't imagine if something like that were to happen to me on my wedding day. *eeks* But at least she managed to see the true colors of that jerk. I recommend this movie for some smiles if you're feeling stressed. =D
Next up: Terminator Salvation! Mr Toh and I borrowed all the three previous Terminator VCDs to refresh our memory and we're gonna catch Terminator Salvationthis weekend!
