UP (3D) 15/08 @ Tampines

From Disney-Pixar comes UP, a comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 9-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell. From the Academy Award-nominated director Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc.), Disney-Pixar's UP invites you on a hilarious journey into a lost world, with the least likely duo on Earth. UP will be presented in Disney Digital 3-D in select theaters. [Source]
I wanted to catch this movie in 3D, because I've never experienced watching a movie in 3D before. But...I have to say that there wasn't much 3D effects. Even the trailer for "Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs" had more 3D effects than UP!

But the storyline was really moving. Pixar has done it again! I was already crying within the first half hour of the show, where they showed Carl's life in wordless summary. That part was beautiful and touching. The whole show was really funny too. Like, talking dog anyone?
The graphics were also, as usual, amazing.

Perhaps watching it in 3D marred the experience for me, as I felt the 3D glasses were really uncomfortable.

Some funny parts from the movie: [Source]

Carl Fredricksen: [Carl, with his house high in the air, opens his door to see who knocked on it. Looking around, he spots Russell and yells... ] Whaa!
Russell: Hi, Mr. Fredricksen! It's me, Russell!
Carl Fredricksen: What are you doing out here, kid?
Russell: I found a snipe, and I followed it under your porch, but this snipe had a long tail, and looked more like a large mouse.
[His flag then blows away in the wind, and he gasps]
Russell: [Turns to Mr. Fredricksen] Please let me in.
Carl Fredricksen: [pause] No.
[He slams the door shut]
Carl Fredricksen: [Russell waits uncertainly for a few seconds. The door opens again] Oh, all right...
[Russell runs inside]

The fat little boy is sooo cute!!

I freaking love this part! Super hilarous!

Charles Muntz: [on board his Spirit of Adventure airship] Does anyone know WHERE THEY ARE?
[Russell suddenly is dragged across the large window by a garden hose. Muntz stares while his eye twitches]

Silly little dog....ahaha.

Dug: [to the bird Kevin] Won't you please be my prisoner, please please please!

Highly recommended movie!

Wanna catch Final Destination and The Proposal next!

Saturday we went cycling!!! Me, Mr Toh, Sis, her bf (BBD) and Jimmy~

Me!! Can you imagine?? =X

We met at Sis's place at around 4pm plus.

Jimmy was riding a downhill bicycle instead of his usual normal bicycle. -.- FYI: A downhill bicycle is slowest on a normal straight road, because it is very heavy. It was almost like he looked down on us! *hmph*

As there was only 4 bicycles, I volunteered to take the bus to Pasir Ris Park while the rest cycled there. Hee. Plus, I felt it was kinda scary to have to cycle there, as I did not have any experience of cycling anywhere besides at Sis's place.

But we had tea at a nearby coffeeshop first, as the sun was still very hot.

After that, we met up at Pasir Ris, and we proceeded to rent a lousy 'Dura' bicycle for the whole night~ 5pm to 10am the next day @ $15 (IIRC).

Weeee~~ Off we went cycling through Pasir Ris Park~ It was so crowded!!! And I was kinda unsteady on the bicycle, lol... Was really afraid of knocking people down! I should have bought the bright orange 'P' plates to hang on my bicycle so that people will be more careful of me!

We decided to cycle to Changi Village for dinner! Ipoh 'horfun' here I come!

The hawker centre was really crowded as it was dinner time, around 8pm~ We also shared a sambal stingray and a plate of 'orh luak'. *yummies*

I also bought 2 boxes of plasters. I found a blister on my left thumb because I was very tense and gripped the handlebars really tightly. . *ouchies*

Why 2 boxes, you ask? Because lousy 7-11 only sold plastic plasters of their house brand, First Choice. And Mr Toh said it'd do just fine when I was searching for cloth ones. Ok lo, since he said that, we bought it and like, less than 5 mins after I put it on, it was unsticky already and peeling off. Can you say, WTF?

So we bought another box of Hansaplast cloth plasters from another provision store. And those worked so much better. I had one plaster on each thumb..painful sia... Initially I thought maybe I'll use up the whole box by the end of the day but I over estimated myself and we still have a lot of plasters left over...lol.

After dinner, we cycled over to East Coast Park, as it was on the way to Siglap where we decided to go have cheesecake~ I had been waiting for my cheesecake for so long~

It was a looooong ride...but it was fun nevertheless.

Cheesecake was the thing that kept me going. Hahahahahha!!

I kept going "Cheesecake wait for meeee!!", "Cheesecake here I come!!!" to motivate myself and "Huuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..." in a low deep drawl when I was really tired. *rofl*

Anyway, we finally reached ECP at around 11pm. We realised we only had 1 1/2 hours before the Cheesecake Cafe closed! So we had to keep going!

After exiting from the ECP underpass, we reached Siglap very soon, around 11:30pm. Haha, I was so happy when I realised the surroundings looked very familiar!! Hohoho~

I had the Choc Brownie Cheesecake that I didn't manage to eat the previous time, Mr Toh ordered Vanilla Choc Chip Cheesecake, Sis had her fave Walnut Cheesecake and Jimmy had the American Cheesecake (I think). Sis's bf opted out of having any cheesecakes, think he's on a diet. =X

It felt sooo shiok to just sit there and relax~ But, after we got up to ride home, I realised....my butt hurts!!! *argh* But bo bian....

On the way home, they said there was a part we had to cycle on the road. Gawd...I was petrified. And I teared a little....and Mr Toh scolded me. =(((((((((((((( I guess our faces said it all...as the rest were kinda quiet on the rest of the route.

We reached Tanah Merah and while resting, I cried.....fuck man... *ARGH!!!* So embarrassing. The rest were nice about it, and left me and Mr Toh alone to talk... He was just pissed that I was so afraid of riding on the road....bah... I will definitely try to overcome that fear in future. But it was my first time riding mah!!! T_T

Anyway, Jimmy went home and we went to Sis's home to sleep, because Mr Toh had to return the rental bicycle at 10am the next day. The guys had their supper and we went to bed. I slept on a mattress in Sis's room and Mr Toh and BBD shared the guest room.

I set the alarm for 9am, but overslept and woke up at 10:30am!! I got a shock when I saw the time! Woke Mr Toh and Sis up...but it started raining shortly. Mr Toh waited till the rain stopped and then returned the bicycle...I think he was late for about 2 hrs in returning the bicycle, but they did not charge us more. So nice!! They are the bicycle shop inside the chalet area. Even though the bicycle was not that good, which is to be expected for all rental bicycles, I think they were really nice not to charge us for returning the bicycle late.

BOOK FAIR - 23/08/09

I was reading the papers at Sis's home after we got back from cycling, when I saw there was a book fair at Expo the next day. As I had never been to one before, and I needed new books to read, I asked Mr Toh and Sis if they wanted to go. Luckily, we all loved books. Well, maybe except Mr Toh. He was looking for cycling magazines. Lol.

Anyway, after going home to bathe and change, we met at Expo! The book fair wasn't very crowded though...guess Singaporeans don't like to read much.

Sis found lots of books! Lol, I only managed to find 3. It was $2 for one book, but during the time we were there, there was a 1-for-1 promotion! So that means it's $1 for each book! So cheap! Hahaha! *happies* In total we bought 22 books altogether, hohoho.

Had Subway for dinner, and we went our separate ways~ Accompanied Mr Toh to a friend's grandma's funeral at Bedok..but I only waited for him and Jimmy at a nearby coffeeshop as I did not know the friend at all. I also did not feel comfortable being introduced to his friends for the first time at a funeral. I waited till 11pm plus!!! Gosh, so dead tired after that.

Slept like a baby that night.

As Monday was a public holiday, I decided to take leave on Friday, so I'd have a super long weekend~

Thursday 06/08/09

Met Mr Toh & Jimmy at Kranji Mrt after I finished work. We were gonna take the bus to JB from there.

I bought 2 bermudas for the trip because I have no decent shorts at all! Lol.

We bought some snacks and soya milk from Mr Bean and had to rush to catch 170.

It was an uneventful journey. There was only a bit of jam until SG Customs. I was hungry like hell because the snack was awful, like it had been at the counter since morning, so I didn't eat it. Yucks.

We reached City Square (finally!) around 10pm. All 3 of us were starving so we decided to have dinner at Kim Gary at the basement. The food was good~ and not just because we were hungry. The food was better than in SG. We then waited for Jimmy's parents to come fetch us.

Reached their place around 11pm. Jimmy's ahyi was waiting up for us. We washed up & slept. Or tried to...

Mr Toh kena lots of mosquito bites so he didn't sleep much. Funny how mozzies always prefer him to me. Hah..and they say people with Type O blood gets bitten more easily?
He observed that I was the 1st to fall asleep though. Lol. I was very tired lah!

Friday 07/08/09

Mr Toh and me woke really early, around 8 plus. Ate breakfast and had coffee. We helped ahyi and the farm owner tie up the vegetables they picked, 'han zi hio', sweet potato leaves. They were beautiful & fresh, Mom would love it. But I was too paiseh to ask for some to bring home. =X

After that, we went to see uncle feed the crickets. So manyyy! And the babies are so tiny, like little black ants! *squeamish*

After Jimmy woke up, we had lunch and then went down into the pond! Woot! They wanted to sort out the shrimps for sale.

Their ponds are huge!!

One of the path leading to the ponds.

At first, I was pondering whether to go down or not, then ahyi asked me to help sort out the haul without knowing that I was squeamish of this kind of things, lol.

So I did went down into the water! The mud was so slippery! I think it took me like 5 mins to get down into the pond everytime, at the speed I was going. Hahhaa.

After we were done at 6pm plus, we bathed and went out for dinner.

They brought us for dinner at Kota Tinggi. Yummy zi char and tom yum soup and satay, cheng tng and rojak (not very yummy though).

After dinner, we went to the night market nearby to walk around and Jimmy bought this yummy fish keropok that came in thin chips! Not like the normal ones in stick form. Much yummier!

Saturday 08/08/09
I woke up slightly later this day, at 10 plus, ate some bread, helped ahyi, the farm owner and his wife tie the vegetables again.
When Jimmy & Mr Toh woke up, we went down to the pond again. This time we're just sorting out the fish and shrimps in one of the ponds~ Bebe is super cute, he came to 'fetch' me when I came down from the house. Haha, it didn't seem to matter to him that I was kinda scared of him. Lol!

Jimmy's relatives came in the evening when we were still at the pond, but didn't dare to stay the night. When they saw us in the pond, they were like surprised that we dared to go in.. Typical city type, scared of dirt, scared of mosquitoes.
It was so funny the way auntie said that the moment they got down the car, they started applying insect repellent. Lol! I mean, I am not an outdoorsy person, but not to that extreme! =X

That night, we had dinner at somewhere closeby, Puteri Mart. Yummy char kuey teow & BBQ chicken wings! Jimmy ordered stingray too but it is damn not nice. The meat was tough and the chilli had no taste. At first, the stallowner quoted him RM 25 but when he saw Jimmy's dad, he said RM 15...waffuck?
Jimmy's relatives left after dinner. Only his dad's twin brother stayed. They really looked alike loh! Haha. Like duh. *smacks forehead*

Sunday 09/08/09

I woke up reeaaally late, ard 11 plus. There wasn't much to do, as the farm owner did not come this morning.
After the boys woke up at 12plus, we had a simple lunch at home then we went to this wholesale supermarket place near Jusco. We bought some snacks to bring home and daily necessities. Ahyi insisted on paying for everything. =\

We went to Jusco for some shopping after that as Jimmy wanted to buy clothes, but end up he didn't buy anything. I bought a Nike tank for running and Mr Toh bought an addidas cap. *happies*

We brought the aunties to Secret Receipe for lunch~ Yummy prawn macaroni with loads of cheese for me and Jimmy! Chicken spaghetti bolognese for Mr Toh. Grilled dory for auntie and thai fried rice for ahyi (it came with raw corn, wth?)

We then shared 2 slices of cheesecake. A slice of white chocolate macadamia (which I had for my 21st bday) and baked cheesecake. The baked cheesecake had a really strong flavour, I didn't like it much, but Mr Toh and Jimmy loved it.

After we got home at around 5plus, we got to work again~ Cleared the pond a few more rounds and sorted out the fish and shrimps.

We then had a simple dinner at home. Mr Toh took a huge liking to this olive vegetable dish that auntie prepared. And he asked me to learn it so I can cook it for him in Singapore. Lol....I did ask auntie how to prepare it and it sounds simple enough.

Monday 10/08/09
All three of us woke quite late, around 12 plus. Notice how we wake up later and later everyday? =X

Slacked around at home, but the weather was kinda hot.

Jimmy's uncle and family came to visit in the afternoon. His cute little niece kinda took a liking to me and wanted me to carry her around. When her mommy asked if she wanted me to carry her, she stretched her arms out towards me, heehee. When I asked her if she wanted Alex korkor to carry her, she hid in my arms. LOL!

So I took care of her when her mommy was eating lunch. I played with her and fed her some porridge, I also taught her how to say Bebe's name.

She is super duper cute lah~ She wasn't scared of Bebe at all! When Bebe came near her, she stretched her arm out , wanting to touch him, haha! And when Bebe barked at her, she laughed! Omg. Haha. But kids are very weird too. When uncle showed her a little chicky, she did not dare touch it at all...even after I demonstrated. Lol~!

After the men fixed the fence, we bathed and got ready to go back Singapore. =(

Uncle drove us to Ulu Tiram interchange and we took a bus back to JB. The bus jammed alllllll the way from Ulu Tiram to JB! I got bus-sick. *vomits* T_T

We only managed to reach JB at around 7 or 8. Had our dinner at Sizzling Stonegrill. Hmm, I felt it was pricey and the portions were small and not really worth the price. It wasn't even very delicious.

Shopped around City Square but there wasn't much to see. So we decided to have cheesecake at Secret Recipe again!
This time I tried their Cheeze Choc while Jimmy tried their Classic Cheese and Mr Toh had Baked Cheesecake again. It was guiltily delicious! Lol. =X

We also bought adidas deodarant! We saw that Watsons was having a promotion~ Buy 2 bottles (1 set) and it comes with a free arm pouch~ We each bought 1 set. And it only costs RM20+ for 1 set! It's cheap! And the arm pouch is perfect for when I go jogging~! *happies*

But all the joy evaporated when we walked to the Customs. It was sooooo crowded!! Super long queue at the Malaysia customs. T_T After clearing the Malaysia customs, we headed to the bus terminal. But, omg.....it was so messy. We had no idea where to queue for our bus!! So we anyhow tikam and joined a queue. But after some time, we realise something was not quite right. The queue was not moving and there was a huge crowd at the head of the queue. People were cutting queue! They were passing by the rest of the queue and just stood at the front. We were like what the hell?

Jimmy then went to investigate and came back 10 minutes later to tell us that we were queueing at the wrong queue! *faints* Turns out that we were at the CW queue when we wanted to take 950. So, we went to find the 950 queue....and when we found it, I wanted to cry! It was so long!!! Hais....but no choice. We couldn't even walk if we wanted to, as the security guard was chasing after people who were walking out.. Mr Toh went to double confirm the queue was correct, if not, we'd be wasting even more time. And I still had work the next day! T_T

But luckily, we were at the right queue, although it was still very long......but the queue was moving quite fast, so it was still alright. We were queueing when I saw a person that looked very familiar. Turned out it was my colleague, haha~ She was also trying to find the correct queue, so I asked her to join us. =X We finally reached Singapore customs at around 11plus and shared a cab home. It was 12plus when we reached home. Tired!!!

But overall, it was very fun!! We really really enjoyed the short break and would love to go back there again! But only during weekdays. I couldn't stand the customs during weekends. Hoho.

Pics uploaded on Facebook. Blogger sucks. T_T I got frustrated uploading these few pics. *grr*

Haven't been updating for so long! I am getting more and more lazy... Zzz.

Anyway, the concert was awesome! Even though there was quite a lot of elderly people. =X
After the show, we were queueing for a cab when someone grabbed my shoulders from behind! Turns out it was god-mum. Scared the shit out of me. Haha. They asked who we came for, we came for Emil Chau, I thought most people were there for him, I think the other members aren't popular enough. *mean* Heehee.

We did lots of things these past few weeks.

Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Ulu Tiram too. Will upload the photos soon.

Mr Toh's been busy with a new project...so he has lesser time for me. But it's OK, I mean I still have lots of things to do.
Like, finish watching my Boys over Flowers, finish up my own project, occasional meetings with the babes, tidy up our room, blog more, read more, etc. So many things right? Yeah right. =X

Friday 14/08/09
Caught Where Got Ghost on Friday night with Sis ; her cousin, Jimmy, Xiangming & GF and Keqing. What a big crowd! Hoho. The show is damn lame, but certain parts were still creepy. T_T
After we came out of the theatre, we bumped into Wensheng, such a coincidence. Singapore is too small. Supper at Saffron after that.

Saturday 15/08/09
The weekend that just passed was very slack.

Caught UP on Saturday, it was such a touching storyline, the love story of Carl & Ellie~ As there wasn't much to do, we ended up going home early on a Saturday night, something we haven't done in ages. Lol. =X

Sunday 16/08/09

Went to Mom's house for lunch, helped her dye her hair before we left at around 5pm. We then went to Toa Payoh for dinner and to check out handphones~ Mr Toh's thinking of getting the HTC Touch Pro, anyone have lobangs?

Visited his grandparents after that, as we had bought some milk for his grandma.
We then went home to watch Ponyo on DVD~ I realise it is a Japanese version of The Little Mermaid, only the main characters are much younger. Seriously, do all 5 year olds know what is love nowadays? But Ponyo is very cute though~ So tired after watching the movie..

Serious Monday Blues!!!
