We went pak-tor-ing~
First up, movie, @ Plaza Singapura~
Land of the Lost~Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, sucked into one and spat back through time. Way back. Now, Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world--a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy known as the Land of the Lost.
Sucked alongside him for the adventure are crack-smart research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist (Danny McBride) named Will. Chased by T. rex and stalked by painfully slow reptiles known as Sleestaks, Marshall, Will and Holly must rely on their only ally--a primate called Chaka (Jorma Taccone)--to navigate out of the hybrid dimension. Escape from this routine expedition gone awry and they're heroes. Get stuck, and they'll be permanent refugees in the Land of the Lost. [Source]
Very funny and entertaining show, heehee.
For dinner, we went to Shin Kushiya @ Suntec as we had been craving for some yakitori.
I had a Yuzu Cooler and Mr Toh had a Mint Tea. Both drinks were nice, but the glasses were a little small.
We decided to try most of the Chef's recommendation for yakitori on the first page, plus a few other stuff.
($8.80) Foie gras with caramelised apples - First time Mr Toh's trying foie gras, he says it has a weird aftertaste. I find the taste so-so, perhaps I prefer it to be more crispy on the outside. Maybe the french style of cooking foie gras is better.
($4.20) SakeKawa Temaki (Salmon skin: Waitress's recommendation) - Hubby's dish, he loved it. He loves salmon but has never tried salmon skin before, and commented that it was very crispy and fragrant. Also, they did not skimp on the ingredients. Every bite had salmon skin in it until the very end.
($4.20) Ebi Tempura Temaki - My dish, I loved it too. The Ebi was fresh and not overcooked. The rice was just right. This dish was perfect to me. Did I mention it was my first time eating a temaki? =X
From here onwards, the standard just kinda dropped. =(
($2.60) Nikuzune Shiitake (Mushroom stuffed with meat, I forgot if it was chicken or pork) - Awesomely yummy. Juicy and nicely charred.
($2.40) Ton toro (Pork with wasabi sauce) - The pork was horrible. Way too tough, but I rather like the wasabi sauce.
($1.90) Meatballs - Mr Toh disliked the texture. But I thought it was OK, and I liked the taste.
($2.80) Asparagus wrapped in thin slices of pork - Nicely charred, but the asparagus was very thin.
($2.80) Ebi - Huge disappointment. The ebi was small, fishy and overcooked. The meat was so tough! I had this previously in the Vivo branch and it was so much better.
($2.20) Black pepper Chicken - Normal, quite nice.
($4.80) Hotate Maki (Scallops wrapped in pork) - The scallops were big and fresh, but there was a leaf in between the pork and scallops that had a weird taste that I hated. Mr Toh said it was good though.
($3.80) Isobeyaki (Meat and shitake wrapped in seaweed) - It was ok....it kinda tasted like the chinese ngoh hiong. But the meat was rather tough.
Fortunately, dessert was another good part of our meal. We ordered the KuroGoma Heaven which was black sesame ice cream ($7.80 -waitress's recommendation) and Konnyaku Coconut Jelly ($4.20)
The coconut jelly was very nice and refreshing.
Mr Toh loved the black sesame ice cream, he said it was good. But I personally found the taste too strong for my liking. This was actually my order, but I didn't like it, luckily Mr Toh did!
Service was good, but they forgot our last order of ice lemon tea. Perhaps they were distracted because the kitchen staff had just left and it was near closing time...but service overall was above average. The waitresses were friendly and knew their food! One even offered to help us take a picture, haha, maybe she thought it was some special occasion for us.
But we felt that the price we paid was not worth it at all.
*loves* Wonderful company but not-so-good food. =(
After dinner, we headed back home and rented a Dvd from the Play machine. =X
Sniper!Good show, but rather slow moving at times. Almost fell asleep several times. =x
