LIGHT YEARS by PEARL JAM
I’ve used hammers made out of wood
I have played games with pieces and rules
I undeciphered tricks at the bar
But now you’re gone, I haven’t figured out why
I’ve come up with riddles and jokes about war
I’ve figured out numbers and what they’re for
I’ve understood feelings and I’ve understood words
But how could you be taken away?
And wherever you’ve gone
And wherever we might go
It don’t seem fair… Today just disappeared
Your light’s reflected now, reflected from afar
We were but stones, your light made us stars
With heavy breath, awakened regrets
Back pages and days alone that could have been spent, together…
But we were miles apart
Every inch between us becomes light years now
No time to be void or save up on life
You got to spend it all…
And wherever you’ve gone
And wherever we might go
It don’t seem fair… You seem to like it here
Your light’s reflected now, reflected from afar
We were but stones, your light made us stars
And wherever you’ve gone
And wherever we might go
It don’t seem fair… Today just disappeared
Your light’s reflected now, reflected from afar
We were but stones, your light made us stars
On the bus to the MRT last Fri, I pressed the bell when it was approaching the bus stop I usually got off at. I panicked when it didn't slow down to stop, instead, it turned into the bus interchange. Then it hit me. I took another bus that morning, 1 that stopped at the bus interchange i/o the bus stop outside of it. I think the people on the bus might be thinking why the crazy woman pressed the bell... Lol. ><
While on the phone with Mr Toh last night, he told me that actually he doesn't want to Skype with me during his reservist. (We have Skype and webcams installed on our laptop and desktop.) I asked why and he said it'll make him miss me even more... So sweet! But actually it works the other way for me. I'll feel better seeing him, even if it's through the webcam. Love him so much..!
At Mommy's house now...Mommy's home cooked food FTW!
Just 1 more night!!
Last Sat, we celebrated Mr Toh's birthday at The Square, Novotel......let's just say the experience sucked BIG TIME.
There were items missing from the menu stated online, NONE of the items tasted good, except for the ham and chocolate cake, which, to be honest, is EXTREMELY difficult to screw up. It was a very very disappointing meal....but we are very thankful to Kelvin for treating us.
After lunch, we strolled around Clarke Quay aimlessly, no idea where to go. =X We went to Liang Court and browsed around Kinokuniya~
Mr Toh reminiscing his school days where he used that little palette for art~
Mr Toh the artist. Look at his cheeky face! Lol!
Soon, it was dinner time! Mr Toh suggested Ramen Santouka~ We loved it as usual, but Kelvin found it to be too salty. So, it might not be as delicious to you if you can't take salty food~
After dinner, we went home~
On Sunday, we had lunch @ Bedok then we went back to Mr Toh's office because he had to clear some work before his reservist. I was there to do free labour...he didn't even allow me to nap! Hmph...
After that, we rushed back to Yishun to take a bus to Sembawang Shopping Centre~ We were meeting Mummy and Huiyi for dinner @ Chye Lye Fish Head Curry. It has been YEARS since I've went there, I think it has been around 12 years? Can't be sure.....but it really has been a loooong time.
When we arrived at around 6:30pm, the place was already very crowded. Fortunately, Huiyi and Mummy had arrived earlier to book a table for us.
We ordered a small fish head curry, roast chicken, baby kailan and a beancurd dish. The waiting time was verrrry long that day due to Mothers' Day and a lot of people were ordering for takeaway too. But it was OK, good food is always worth waiting for!
The fish head curry came first, the fish was very fresh, and unlike most places which only serve one side of the head, they served the whole head! The curry was very nice too, fragrant and just spicy enough. I remember my Daddy used to love to eat their eyeballs! Then I would always crinkle my nose at that because I thought it was gross. I still do though! Just that....there's no one that eats it now.
The roast chicken is also one of their specialties. The meat was tender, just salty enough and the skin was crispy and flavourful. I normally avoid eating breast meat, but I loved this dish, even the breast meat!
The baby kailan and the beancurd dish were both very simple dishes but they were good too. The kailan was not overcooked, unlike most places we've tried. I loved the egg sauce on the beancurd dish, and the roast meat in that dish was delicious too.
Overall, we had a really wonderful meal, which more than made up for our disappointment of the previous meal at The Square @ Novotel. =X The bill came up to $40.30 for 4 adults. Totally value for money!
After dinner, we went home to cut cake! Huiyi bought this yummy cake from
Prima Deli~
Yummy Dark Chocolate cake~ We also sang 2 birthday songs for Mummy, lol! One English & one Chinese.
We stayed a little while more after that, and left at around 9pm, as Mr Toh still has to pack his bags.
So, he booked in on Monday....it's now Saturday, just 2 more nights and I'll have my Mr Toh back.
Yesterday, I met up with the girls, Weishu, Kelly, Candace, Jasmine, Christina and Doreen for dinner and drinks @ Coffee Club, Somerset. We chatted till almost 10pm and then we decided to end for the night and plan on meeting up again maybe on 28/05~
I left with Christ and Do and we went strolling along Orchard Road. But we soon got sian...then Do psychoed Christ to go Paulaner, reason being, that's the only place we can think of where they have a good live band. They were as good as always!
Cabbed back with them after the band's last set~
Yesterday Chris asked me if I liked the freedom of being on my own while Mr Toh is in reservist or did I miss him?
I thought about it, and I realised that I really missed him. I missed seeing him, holding his hands and telling him about my day, and complaining about stuff that irked me. Somehow, it just feels really different doing that over the phone.
He told me yesterday that he was not feeling well...because of being cooped up in the stuffy bunk for so many days...but there was nothing I can do about it...it feels so bad. T_T
But it's OK, just 2 more nights. I'm gonna go over to Mummy's place tomorrow, and busy myself with my stuff today.
I'll be OK.
It's gonna be a buuusy weekend!
Today, we're celebrating Mr Toh's birthday in advance. The poor thing is going for his 1 week reservist on Monday - his actual birthday. T_T *sayangs*
Bought a card for him, no time to do one from scratch this year.
Yesterday, Andrew, SY, YX came over to Hougang to have a chillax wine session~ Andrew had bought this white wine from DFS and wanted to try it.
Rosemount white wine. It was very nice~ Slightly sweet and not very sour.
Wine glasses we bought in Ikea a few weeks back~ The wine has to be drank with a few ice cubes because it wasn't chilled, but it was still very nice!
Tomorrow, we're celebrating Mothers' Day! After that, Mr Toh still has some work to do before he goes for reservist. Busy little bee. =P
** WARNING **
Boring & mundane post ahead. =P
Met Mr Toh @ Hougang for dinner after work yesterday~ Before we went for dinner, he had to run some errands first. We were looking for a photo developing shop and after asking around, we found one at the HDB block beside Hougang Mall.
When we asked if they are able to print out size 6R photos, the uncle said no… Nvm, so Mr Toh asked if he knows of any other developing shops around this area, he also said no. Tsk, so unhelpful. It’s not like if we can’t find other shops to develop 6R, we’ll make do with your shop’s 4R lor!
Fortunately, we found Kodak’s shop at the basement level of Hougang Mall. Hah! Take that, you petty, unfriendly uncle! =X
After developing the photos, Mr Toh asked what I wanna eat. I had a craving for the cheap and good chicken rice beside Raffles Medical Clinic, but when we got there, they were already closing for the day…so I decided we shall have the popular Western at another coffee shop.
Intended not to order any drinks as I was having a cough these past few days, but when Mr Toh ordered Jia Jia Herbal Tea, I decided to have that as well, as I was very feeling kinda heaty too.
When the drinks came, I couldn’t open it as my nails were quite long, so I asked Mr Toh to help me. Once he opened it, he swooped the straw from the cup and stuck it into the drink can, which was at room temperature. I stared at him, and he said it’s for my own good, I have a cough and shouldn’t be drinking cold drinks. T_T After that, he saw my T_T face and asked if I wanted less ice instead, I nodded eagerly and he laughed at me. Then he helped me throw some away… Awww…so sweet!!! Haha.. <3 <3 <3
The other day, we went to Pasir Ris and we were walking to take a bus home, when I walked behind Mr Toh because it was very crowded. He couldn’t see me so he stopped for a while and asked Andrew “我的老婆leh"?” I popped up behind him and said “I am here!”. Heehee. So boliao. =X But so funny…
I love my Mr Toh!
Had been rather busy the past weekend. Busy with friends, movies and food! Loving it~
Friday, after work, I met up with Char and Kevin at Bugis, we were going for steamboat! We walked around, comparing prices, and ended up at 'Tian Tian Huo Guo' @ Liang Seah St. They also had BBQ, as Char preferred BBQ~ But we felt kinda cheated...when we were walking pass them, they told us it was $16 net per pax. We felt the price was OK, but when we sat down, we were told that it was $18 per pax if we wanted the BBQ too. But every table had a BBQ stove, which lead to us thinking that there was no difference which kind we wanted. Hais, but it's OK...
Their crabs and prawns were pretty fresh, so I had quite a lot of that. The rest were so-so...
Mr Toh joined us later, and attacked the meat. But he feedback that the marinated meat wasn't nice. Most likely, we won't go back to this store again~
As Mr Toh were finishing up, Doreen & Christina came to meet us. We decided to go to
Paulaner! I love their live band! Really good and really funny too~ Lots of Lady Gaga requests too, lol.
Mr Toh wasn't feeling satisfied after the steamboat, and he was really tempted by the pizza, so he ordered a classic pizza with bacon and onions. Their pizzas had really thin crusts, which is Mr Toh's favourite!
Char and Kevin left around 11.40pm, while the rest of us stayed behind till the band's last set, and we shared a cab home.
On Saturday afternoon, I had a date with 2 hot hunks! Namely, Mr Tony Stark and Mr Ip Man. Haahha! The 2 hottest movie hunks this week~
In Iron Man 2, the world is aware that billionaire inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is the armored Super Hero Iron Man. Under pressure from the government, the press and the public to share his technology with the military, Tony is unwilling to divulge the secrets behind the Iron Man armor because he fears the information will slip into the wrong hands. With Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and James Rhodey Rhodes (Don Cheadle) at his side, Tony forges new alliances and confronts powerful new forces. [Source]
We met Sis, Kelvin (Sis's cousin) & Andrew (Sis's friend) @ Lido to catch Iron Man 2!! The long awaited release! But...it was so-so. Quite funny and exciting, but it felt rather flat, somehow.
We then walked over to Cathay Cineleisure for our 2nd date! Ip Man 2! We had some time before the movie started, so we chillax-ed @ Old Town White Coffee where Kelvin's friend joined us~ I love their coffee! So aromatic~
Ip Man arrives in Hong Kong and tries to propagate Wing Chun in the region. He faces rivalry from the local master of Hung Ga, Hung Jan Nam. After a few encounters with each other, Hung begins to respect Ip's existence. One day Hung is beaten to death by an English boxer during a duel. In order to protect the dignity of Chinese martial arts, Ip challenges him. [Source]
Ip Man 2 was nice!! But somehow, I still felt the 1st movie was better. =X Anyway, Donnie Yen's still very hot. =P
After the movie, we walked over to 313 @ Somerset for dinner~ Andrew recommended this place,
Brotzeit, a German Beer Bar & Restaurant. The sausages and pork knuckles were delish!! But the portions were...how do I put it....not that big lah. No pictures of the yummy food, it's all in Kelvin's camera~ See when he'll upload it~
Sunday, we slept till afternoon, and went to White Sands to meet YX and Andrew (Mr Toh's friend) for coffee~ I was starving, so I had the lobster linguine! It was good lah! Darn yummy!
*drools*
Had a sudden craving for pizza yesterday~ So we indulged in Rite Pizza's Mayo Chix pizza! They had a promotion going on, you get a free side order on Mon and Tues! I didn't know that at first.
What's funny was that, the person actually bothered to call me back after I had placed my order, to tell me about this promotion. So nice....I decided to try their garlic bread & it was goood!
1/4 eaten pizza. =P
Last Monday (26/04), Mr Toh came to fetch me from work. *loves* Been a while since he's had the time for that. *bliss* We went for our favourite 'xiao long baos'! While waiting for the 'xiao long baos', we ordered the Hot & Sour Noodles. I....didn't like it at all. The taste of the salted vegetable was VERY strong.
'Xiao long baos'!!! <3<3~~
Dessert! Piping hot, crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside Red Bean Pancake! <3<3<3~~
I REALLY love this!
The previous Friday (16/04), we met Sis @ Boat Quay to celebrate Kelvin's birthday~ Very nice of him to invite us. xD
Lots of liquors. O.O
The girls~ (Me, Sis and her cousin)
Mr Toh with the Martell 'dua pao' (cannon). Not everyday you'll get to take a picture with this! Lol!
Mr Toh and Me~ <3
All pictures above were taken with the
Blackberry Bold 9700. Company changed it for us. I think it looks really sleek and stylo. =P Better camera too. Mr Toh hates the camera's flash though, he finds it very annoying, because it only shines when we press the 'shoot' button.
Other than that, everything's pretty fine.
